Victor L. Phillips' Biography
Victor L. Phillips was born in Mount Carroll, Illinois.
He attended the University of Illinois for two years before graduating
from the University of Wisconsin in 1909 with an Engineering deg ree.
In March, 1910, Phillips came to Kansas City as salesman
for the Standard Asphalt and Rubber Company, of Chicago. He sold asphalt
for early blacktop jobs and asphalt filler for the brick pavements common
in the time.
Victor L. Phillips was president of Associated Equipment
Distributors in 1939 and was a member of numerous civic organizations.
Until his death in 1967, Phillips lived on a farm just south
of of Kansas City where he and his wife raised livestock and shetland
ponies and collected art. Mr. and Mrs. Phillips had mining interests in
Peru and often spent several months in South America each year.
Victor L. Phillips served as president of The Victor L.
Phillips Company until shortly before his death.
