"We
are pleased to have this opportunity to share our
labor of love and service for the Lord with you.
If Anchor Baptist Church could be an encouragement
to you and your family in spiritual things, we would
be fulfilling the goal of our ministry."
To introduce
Anchor, let me give you some helpful information:
Our staff
is made up of two full-time pastors, a secretary,
and three full-time teachers in our Christian Academy
(K-12). Each one is dedicated to his or her own field,
and is trained to provide the Word of God to the respective
age levels in a helpful manner. Each is capable of delivering
the proper kinds of assistance so that your children,
teens and other family members can be safely guided
through biblical concepts to a life that is rich, wholesome,
motivated, and productive for the Lord and themselves.
Our ministry
is geared toward the needs of people. We have a Christian
Academy (K-12) because we think it is important to reach
our children on a daily basis with a quality education
combined with a focus on the Lord and our daily walk
with Him. As all youth are not able to attend our school,
there are many other ways we incorporate them into the
ministry. Our youth program is designed to assist young
people from the nursery all the way through high school
years. Our youth pastor works with each child and also
with the collective group. There are opportunities to
learn by listening, but also to experience by actually
doing.
As we support
over thirty full time missionary families, you can see
that we are missionary minded. When adults and youth
visit various fields, they have a hands on approach,
not only hearing about missions, but doing the work
of the missionary.
Sunday School
is for all ages. Normally, adults have an elective course
they can choose out of several classes. Teachers rotate
so there is greater interest. New approaches and varied
talents are put to work. There are classes for everyone
from the youngest infant to the oldest adult. Our teachers
all know and love the Lord Jesus Christ and meet the
high standards we require for a teacher in a church
that is conservative rather than permissive. Each one
loves the Bible (King James only) and is able to teach
it with conviction.
Children’s
Clubs on Wednesday evening afford young people time
to get together with their friends and have a time of
fun while learning scripture verses. They work for awards
and merit badges and are then recognized at the end
of the year for their performance. They also have time
to play wholesome games in our gym. They have activities
on some weekends as well as projects they are to accomplish.
Our children’s club allows them to express themselves
in many ways as they use this ministry to grow in the
Lord.
Out trained
Music director is unequaled anywhere. He directs a brass
ensemble on Sunday evening, using adults and youth.
He leads our adult choir and teaches them how to sing,
not just to make noise. His evangelistic and conservative
style in music makes the church a place of joy, but
also a place of dignified worship to the Lord. For children
who attend the academy, there are also many opportunities
in the field of music. There are choirs in both the
academy and the church. The children’s choir,
led by a trained lady vocalist, sings in services every
other Sunday night; and the teen’s choir sings
the alternate Sunday.
The Word
of God takes the front seat at Anchor Baptist Church.
The preaching is designed to be, not only interesting,
but convicting. Our approach is that the King James
Bible is God’s Word to the English speaking world.
I and our other pastors, and all speakers invited to
our church, never correct or project doubt about the
accuracy and preservation of our Bible. It is preached
from a literal standpoint and always with the goal of
presenting Jesus Christ in His death, burial and resurrection
as being the gospel. We believe it is His work at Calvary
that gives opportunity to those receiving Him as the
Saviour to be saved for all eternity. We teach grace
coupled with God’s demand that we must be born-again
through repentance and receiving Jesus Christ. Every
ministry is directed toward this focal point; Christ
and His Word are the foundation of our church.
The church
has so much to offer, it is hard to present it all in
one letter. There is van transportation if it is needed,
and which also acts as a bus ministry. There is a nursing
home outreach each week. There are summer camp programs,
retreats and conferences, and evangelistic meetings.
There is a Bible College (which meets one night each
week) where you can receive college level credits towards
a degree. Our people and staff visit with shut-ins and
make hundreds of calls into the community on an unceasing
basis. There are regular youth night services each month
in our church to allow families to express their talents
in various fields.
Anchor Baptist
extends a warm greeting to you, your family and your
friends, and hope we can be a blessing to you through
what we believe God has given to us in these many areas,
all we ask is that you give us that opportunity. If
you are visiting or moving to Salt Lake...(this is where the text ended on the old site).
